Newport Jazz 2022

The annual hang is always full of surprises in the music. Highlights included a hip-hop jazz revival on the fort by Digable Planets, vocalist Cécile McLorin Salvant accompanied by Sullivan Fortner, pianist Jason Moran and Wagonwheel playing tribute to Black jazz pioneer James Reese Europe and guitarist Celisse Henderson.

This year, I took the ferry from Providence to Newport. From there, it was a quick walk to my favorite inn. I think that’s it for me… Great not to worry about parking and the boat ride far surpassed the long drive to the international jazz jawn!
